Corrections & Fact-Checking Policy

DRP30 aims to correct meaningful factual errors promptly and proportionately.

Before publication

Editors should verify names, dates, quotations, vote totals, legal holdings, statistics, and other material facts against reliable sources. For developing stories, we may publish what is confirmed at the time and update the article as new verified information becomes available.

After publication

If a factual error changes the meaning of a story or could materially mislead readers, we update the article and add a correction or editor’s note explaining the substantive change. Minor spelling, grammar, formatting, or style edits may be made without a correction note when they do not change the meaning.

Disputed claims

A disagreement with the political or editorial implications of accurate reporting is not automatically a factual error. When a challenged factual statement is supported by reliable evidence, we may retain it while adding relevant context if warranted.

How to request a correction

Use our Contact page and identify the article, the specific statement you believe is incorrect, the correction you are requesting, and reliable evidence supporting the request. We review good-faith correction requests regardless of the viewpoint of the person submitting them.
